Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard began her commercial seafood career in 1999, after she began working on the F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner converted to the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have joined forces in claiming their share of their business. They are supporters of conservative and profitable renewable seafood resource management. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia in the year Bossard returned from living back home with her two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. The husband of the business has a lengthy experience in the industry of fish and often they are separated from each other for five months or more. It is during this time that they are focusing on their environment and financial objectives. Bossard along with her son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella will return to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands during the wild salmon harvest. Hooks and lines are used to catch their fish after which they join Aritan for local processors for a period of two months.
